ABOUT US

On April 20th, 2006, the Kashiwagi family opened a small restaurant on the edge of Downtown Portland as the second location of the Sushi Takahashi franchise: Sushi Takahashi 2. They were known as that one tiny sushi restaurant ran by a single sushi chef with a sushi train carrying around the sushi on the counter.

The family, restaurant members, and regular customers kept the train running non-stop for 13.5 years. During the long path, they received heart-warming recognitions, such as first place for the best sushi conveyer place in Portland by the Portland Mercury and runner-up on the Willamette Weekly.

However, on December 31st, 2019, the restaurant closed its doors, bidding farewell to the petite but open-hearted community of incredibly talented sushi/music lovers.

After receiving much love and an amazing amount of support from those friends and families who came in throughout the years, the Kashiwagi’s thought of a way to return the favor and respect. The conclusion reached was to have a fresh new start at this location off of SE Division Street.

As an appreciation to the community members, the main goal of this location is to contribute back to those who gave encouragement and love when it was needed and also to include new companions to our friendly mini-community of sushi and music lovers in Portland.
